
BIO OF RGPM GEORGETTA FOUNTAIN-HARRIS
Royal Grand Perfect Matron, Georgetta Fountain-Harris is the second born of 8 children to Marion
Elizabeth Fountain and George Wilson Fountain, I. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio on
March 16th.
At age 7 she joined and was baptized at New Mission Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend
George Q. Brown. Afterwards she joined the Junior Choir and was a member of the Youth Choir.
She attended Madisonville Elementary and Lyons Junior High in Madisonville, Withrow High
School in Hyde Park and attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio majoring in Music
(Voice).
From elementary school to college, she was always fascinated when it came to sports, art and music.
Her mother directed her in the path of music by learning to play the piano in the 2nd grade. By the
4th grade she was in the school choir all the way through college. She also played the violin and the
flute in which drove their family dog Champ crazy when she practiced at home. While attending at
Withrow she participated for 3 summers along with over 400 students from all over the United
States in the Summer Music Institute Program at The University of Cincinnati -College
Conservatory of music. Georgetta Loves classical music. While attending U.C. she homed her craft
by learning to sing in Italian. While most of the students in high school was learning Spanish and
French, she learned to speak Latin which helped with her music. There were well known artists that
inspired her: Marian Anderson, Paul Robeson, Beverly Sills, Leontyne Price and Kathleen Battle.
Her first English essay with footnotes (Thank You Miss Virginia Beck, English teacher at Withrow.)
while attending Central State was on Paul Robeson. She did research at the library and guidance
from the President of Central State University Dr. Arthur Newsome who was a friend of Paul
Robeson. She received an A on her Essay.
Her father inspired her in art and sports. In track and field her focus was on 80 yard hurdles,
running long job and the 440 yard dash and the one mile relay. She also played on the Women’s
Reserve and Varsity Basketball Team . She served as a Football Manager for her football team while
attending Withrow High School. Back then Withrow was the first high school to have females as
managers. Those who know her know that she's a diehard Raiders Fan.! She also won and
participated in various art contest.
When she was approximately about 12 years old, her father was a Noble in Sinai Temple #59. He
and Noble Herschel Willis wanted a Shriner to be designed on a jacket. The masonic paraphernalia
store which was located on 4th Street in Cincinnati, Ohio, couldn't do this unless someone came
up with a design. She designed the first Black Shriner on a jacket.
Unfortunately the design was not patent therefore she did not get credit.
It was her parents that guided her on her Masonic Journey. Her father was a member of Wesley
Smith Lodge #107 and her mother served as Past Matron and received her 50 year pin as a member
of Wesley Smith Chapter #90 from Past Grand Worthy Matron Sis. Jacqueline E. Harris.
Georgetta was active in Girl Scouts and Girls Aseembly. She was a member of Girls Assembly #15
(now known as Wilma Williams #15 Sponsored by Wesley Smith Chapter #90) under the leadership
of Mother Advisor, Sis. Betty Willis. She served in all positions and was elected as Royal Queen by
her peers. In 1974 she was elected as Grand Princess Exchequer For Grand Girls Assembly for the
State of Ohio. She served in that position till 1975 under Grand Associate Mother Advisor (now
known as Grand Associate Directors of Youth Activities ) for District #4 Sis. Clifford Blessett of
St. John Chapter #25 and Grand Mother Advisor (now known as Grand Director of Youth
Activities) Sis. Arlene "Momma" Smith of Deborah Chapter #19. Sis. Alice Kelley was Grand
Worthy Matron of Amaranth Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star for the State of Ohio.
On Tuesday, September 9, 1975 her petition was read and accepted by the members of Wesley
Smith Chapter #90. She was investigated by Sis. Ruth Leahr, Sis. Estelle Jackson and Sis. Cora L.
Lounds. She received her final degree in the Amaranth on Tuesday, May 25, 1976.
Sis. Cora L. Lounds was very persistent that she should attend in August of 1976 Grand
Communications to witness her being elected and sworn in as Grand Worthy Matron.
Georgetta served as Adah, Ruth and Electa. She was in no hurry to become Worthy Matron of her
Chapter until she felt she was ready to take on the responsibility. Her first obligation was to her son,
David Wilson Singleton who was born in 1979.
Georgetta was elected and served in the following positions: Associate Conductress 2001 and 2002;
Conductress 2003 and 2004; Associate Matron 2005 and 2006 and as Worthy Matron 2007 and
2008. Her Worthy Patron was Bro. James C. McCreary of Wesley Smith Lodge #107. Bro. McCreary
also served as her mother's Worthy Patron. She also served as a Chaperone for Bethune/Wright
Girls Assembly #59 under the leadership of Mother Advisors Sis. Edwina Wright, Sis. Beulah
Marcus and Sis. Darlean Smith.
At the Grand Communications in August of 2008, Newly Elected Grand Worthy Matron, Sis. Kay
F. Anderson gave her first Grand Appointed Office as Grand Associate Director of Youth
Activities for District #4 in Cincinnati. During her tenure her beloved Girls Assembly #15 was
reinstated under the leadership of Sis. Idella Thompson and her mother Sis. Marion Fountain who
also served as Mother Advisor in the earlier years. Georgetta later became and still serves as
Associate Mother Advisor along with Sis. Margaret Farrier of Gothic Chapter #99.
August of 2011 at Grand Communications, Grand Worthy Matron Sis. Beverly Beavers presented
her with her 35 year service pin.
Georgetta served Amaranth Grand Chapter on the Computer Technology Team under Past Grand
Worthy Matron Sis. Loling Sawyer and Sis. Jacqueline E. Harris. She also served as Grand Warder
under Past Grand Worthy Matrons Sis. Jeanette Langford, Sis. Patricia A.P. Taylor and Sis. Regina
Harper.
2018 to 2020 she was given the honor of serving as Grand Deputy for District #6 in Cincinnati
under the administration of Past Grand Worthy Matron, Sis. Renae Willis and Past Grand Worthy
Patron Bro. Gregory Allen.
After serving as Grand Deputy Georgetta was elected in 2021 as Worthy Matron of her Chapter.
Her Worthy Patron was Bro. David Hankerson of Wesley Smith Lodge #107
Georgetta has also served in the following Subordinate Masonic Houses: Loyal Lady Ruler of Dove
Assembly #34 Order of the Golden Circle (Thank You Loyal Lady D. Lynn Henry, Loyal Lady
Fitzgerald Busch and Loyal Lady Mona Dickson); Princess Captain of Cyrene Guild #1 , Heroines
of Templar Crusaders and a Chartered Member and the 3rd Royal Perfect Matron of Eyes of
Wisdom Court #3 Ladies of the Circle of Perfection.
Our first Royal Grand Perfect Matron, Royal Matron Kay F. Anderson gave her a Grand
Appointment as Royal Grand Steward. In 2015 she was elected into the Grand Line as Royal Grand
Conductress of Ceremonies, 2017 Royal Grand Associate Conductress, 2019 Royal Grand Principal
Conductress, 2021 she served as Royal Grand Deputy Matron and in 2023 was elected to Royal
Grand Perfect Matron.
While attending Central State University she worked at the campus radio station WCSU as a broad
operator, on air news reporter and Contemporary Jazz DJ.
Georgetta who is now retired, has worked for the following: WCKY Radio as an associate producer
for 3 talk shows and Coordinator for "Skywatch" with Ted Florko; WAIF Radio as "Spectrum Talk
show" Host with Greg Williams; WLWT TV 5 Sports Department with Steve Physioc, George
Vogel, Andy Furman and Thom Brenneman; United States Postal Service; Omni Netherland Plaza
Hotel (now known as Netherland Hilton) as an PBX Operator; American Airlines; Receptionist for
Getz Jeweler Executive Office, The Verdin Bell and Clock Company and Convergys;
For many years she was the Greeter for the Pendleton Art Center in the Over the Rhine –
Cincinnati's Largest Collection of artist ; Huntington Disease Association of Cincinnati; usher at the
Aronoff Center and volunteer during the beginning of the Underground Railroad Freedom Center
located in downtown Cincinnati near the Ohio River.
There are so many special people who have been a part of her Life's Journey. But the most
important to her besides Our Lord and Savor Jesus Christ who guides herself steps every day, is her
Family; her son David, her sisters Ezaslee, Esther, Ruthie, Rhonda, her brothers George II, David
II, Neil II and Jason, all her 20 plus beautiful nieces and nephews.
